Flasher relay
The hazard flasher relay is used for the cyclical switching off and on of a vehicle's turn signal lights and hazard flasher system.
Terminal 31 is connected to ground. Once terminal 49 is supplied with voltage, the internal electronics ensure that the voltage applied to terminal 49 is switched through cyclically to terminal 49a.
The hazard flasher relay is in fact a specialized pulse-width modulated switch. The switch-on time and the switch-off time are identical for the hazard flasher relay. The frequency specifies how often the switch is switched on and off per second.
