Three-phase alternator
A three-phase alternator supplies a combined set of three sinusoidal alternating electric voltages. The voltages are phase shifted to one another.
There are three inductors inside the alternator, spatially off-set by 120°. The magnetic field of an evenly rotating permanent magnet induces three alternating voltages, phase shifted to one another by 120°.
